How a call goes

Four steps, every time.

The difference between a good HVAC company and a frustrating one usually isn't the repair. It's everything around the repair. Here's exactly what happens when you call us, in order.

Step 01

Someone picks up

A real person who can actually book you, not a phone tree and not a script. Tell us what the system is doing and we'll get you on the schedule — and if it's something you can sort out from where you're standing, we'll say so instead of selling you a visit.

Step 02

Booking that fits your day

We schedule around when you're actually home, and you get a text when your tradesman is on the way. You know his name before he knocks, and you're not writing off a whole day waiting on "sometime between eight and four."

Step 03

Diagnosis, then a flat quote

Your tradesman finds the actual fault, explains it in plain language, and gives you a fixed price before any work starts. Approve it or don't — there's no commission and no sales quota here, so nobody has a reason to push you.

Step 04

Clean work, documented

Boot covers, drop cloths, and the mechanical room left tidier than we found it. You get photos of the finished work and a written note of what was done and what to watch.

Who we are

Family run, and you'll know all of us.

Tru Tradesmen is Quincy, James, Jordan and Will — one family, one company, and no layer of management between you and the people whose name is on it. We built this around a simple idea: getting your home comfortable again should be the easiest part of a bad day.

You won't get a different story depending on who you talk to. Call, text, or email and you're reaching us. If something goes wrong, you're not filing a complaint into a void — you're telling one of four people who'd rather hear it now than read it in a review.

Comfortable again, as fast as we can get you there

That's the whole job. Everything else — the scheduling, the flat quote, the photos, the follow-up — exists to make that happen without you having to manage it.

What comes on every call

  • Combustion analyzer, used on every gas appliance we touch
  • Glycol refractometer for snowmelt and hydronic loops
  • Thermal camera for finding cold zones without cutting drywall
  • Manometer and static pressure kit
  • Common circulators, zone valves and igniters in stock
  • Boot covers and drop cloths, used without being asked

Tradesmen, not salesmen

To elevate the tradesmen and leave every home thrilled we came.

That's the mission, and it's not decoration — it's the reason the company is called what it's called. The trades built everything around you, and the people who do that work deserve a career worth staying in. A tradesman treated well does better work, and you feel the difference in your house.

The vision

A company where the best tradesmen want to spend their careers, and where any trade under our name is the best work on the job.

Question one

Does this make Tru Tradesmen a better place for the tradesman?

And
Question two

Does this leave the customer in front of us thrilled we came?

A bid, a hire, a schedule, a callback — if it only passes one, we haven't found the answer yet, so we keep looking. Everyone here is answerable to that, including the people who own the company.

What we do

Mountain systems, not valley systems.

Most contractors up here learned on forced air in the Salt Lake Valley. Homes on the Wasatch Back run hydronic heat, glycol loops, snowmelt slabs, and equipment that has to be derated for altitude. That's the work our tradesmen do every week, and it's why we don't treat a boiler like a furnace with water in it.

Service 01No heat

No-heat calls & freeze protection

A vacant house at 8,000 feet can go from comfortable to burst pipes overnight. No-heat and freeze-risk calls jump ahead of routine work on the schedule, and we hold keys and codes for second-home clients who aren't in town.

  • Boiler lockout, furnace failure, frozen condensate lines
  • Low-temperature alarms and remote monitoring setup
  • Winterizing and de-winterizing for seasonal homes
  • Coordination with property managers and caretakers

Service 02Hydronic

Boiler & radiant floor service

Radiant heat is the default up here, and it fails quietly — a dead circulator or a stuck zone valve reads as "one cold room" for a whole winter before anyone calls. We troubleshoot the whole loop, not just the boiler.

  • Mod-con boiler service, combustion tuning, and cleaning
  • Zone valves, circulators, expansion tanks, air elimination
  • Glycol testing and change-out for freeze protection
  • Boiler replacement sized to measured heat loss

Service 03Forced air

High-altitude furnaces, heat pumps & AC

Above 2,000 feet, gas equipment has to be derated and often needs a manufacturer's high-altitude kit and orifice change. Skipping it is the most common installation mistake we find in Summit County homes — and we'll tell you if yours was done wrong.

  • High-altitude conversion kits and combustion analysis
  • Propane conversions for Kamas Valley and Coalville homes
  • Cold-climate heat pumps, sized to design temperature
  • AC and ductless added to homes built without it

Service 04Snowmelt & air

Snowmelt systems & mountain air quality

Steep driveways and heated walks are safety equipment here, not luxury. And at this elevation indoor humidity runs into single digits in January while August brings wildfire smoke down the canyon.

  • Snowmelt boiler, sensor, and slab loop troubleshooting
  • Glycol concentration testing before every winter
  • Whole-home steam humidification for dry mountain air
  • MERV 13+ filtration and fresh air for wildfire season

What we promise you

The things we won't skip, even when nobody would notice.

"Leave every home thrilled we came" only means something if it survives the parts you can't see. These are the ones we hold when nobody's checking.

You hear from us before you have to ask

When the tradesman is on the way, when a part lands, when the schedule slips. Chasing a contractor for an update is the worst part of hiring one, so we took it off your list.

Your history travels with the job

What was found, what was done, and what to watch is written down and photographed. Whoever comes next has read it before knocking, so you're never re-explaining your house from scratch.

Honest pricing, especially when you can't verify it

Our tradesmen aren't paid more for selling you a system than for fixing the one you have. Anyone can be fair on the jobs a homeowner can check. The test is the ones you can't.

Work you can see the difference in

Without being told to look. If we can't point at what changed and why it matters, we haven't finished the job — we've just been to your house.

Combustion analyzed, every gas appliance

Not just when something seems wrong. It's how a cracked heat exchanger or a missed altitude conversion gets caught before it becomes a carbon monoxide problem.

We leave it better than we found it

The house and the day. Boot covers, drop cloths, old equipment hauled away, the mechanical room swept — and photos of the finished work whether you were home or not.

What we hire and fire on

Six values, and we'll cite them to your face.

Integrity

We tell the truth, especially when it costs us.

Stewardship

None of this is ours. It was entrusted to us, and we hand it back better than we found it.

Elevating the tradesmen

Not a benefit. A reason we exist.

Generosity

We give more than the deal requires.

Great experiences

The substance, not the symbol.

Humble & teachable

Growth rarely arrives looking like encouragement. This one binds leadership hardest.

Fair price, no surprises

You'll know the number before we start.

We're not the cheapest shop on the Wasatch Back and we don't pretend to be. What we are is predictable: a flat price quoted in your home, before any work begins, with no change once the job is underway.

What homeowners say

Reviews do the selling.

These three slots are waiting on real Google reviews. Paste them in verbatim — do not write them. Pick ones that name a tradesman, the town, and how the visit was handled.

For general contractors

We hold our slot on the critical path.

Builders and remodelers on the Wasatch Back have a specific problem with mechanical subs: the bid takes two weeks, the crew shows up late, and somebody has to babysit the schedule. We built the contractor side of this company around not being that sub.

01

Ease

Fast bids, clean invoices, and no chasing us for either. If you have to call twice for the same thing, we've already failed the standard.

02

We hold our slot

When rough-in is scheduled, we're there for rough-in. Your critical path doesn't move because of us, and if something does slip you hear it from us first.

03

The best work on the job

And it holds up when the homeowner is standing in front of you a year later. Your name goes on the house too.

04

A fair price, and no drama

We defend the price with reliability rather than being the cheapest bid that slips. No arguments on site, no friction with your other trades.

New construction, remodels and additions across Summit and Wasatch counties — hydronic and radiant systems, snowmelt, high-altitude forced air, and ductwork fabricated rather than improvised. Send us a set of plans and we'll get you a number.

Service area

Summit and Wasatch counties, canyon to canyon.

This is where our trucks already are, which is why a no-heat call up here doesn't wait on someone driving up from the valley. If you're outside the list, call and we'll tell you honestly whether we can get there.

Next build: town pages at /heating-cooling/heber-city, /heating-cooling/park-city and so on — four to six towns to start, each with its own jobs, photos and reviews. Town links currently point to the booking form.

Working here

If you're a tradesman, read this part.

Half our mission points at you. We think the trades got treated as a fallback for a generation, and we'd rather build the company that proves otherwise than complain about it.

01

Top-of-market pay

With incentives that rise as the company does. If we grow and your pay doesn't, we broke the deal.

02

A career, not a job

Real training, and leaders taught how to lead — not just the best tech handed a title and left to figure it out.

03

A voice that counts

Most good ideas come from the people doing the work. We define what done means, then trust you to get there.

04

Balanced workload

Not bored, not burned out. And care for your family, not just your paycheck.

We're always interested in talking to good tradesmen, whether or not there's a posting up. Send us a note.

Straight answers

Questions we get every week.

What is Tru Tradesmen's mission?

To elevate the tradesmen and leave every home thrilled we came. Both halves have to be true at once — every bid, hire, schedule and callback gets run through two questions: does this make Tru Tradesmen a better place for the tradesman, and does this leave the customer thrilled we came? If it only passes one, we haven't found the answer yet. Everyone here is answerable to that, including the people who own the company.

Do you work with general contractors and builders?

Yes. We take mechanical work on new construction, additions and remodels across Summit and Wasatch counties — radiant and hydronic systems, snowmelt, high-altitude forced air, and ductwork fabricated rather than improvised. What we commit to is fast bids, clean invoices, holding our slot on the critical path, and telling you about a schedule change before it becomes your problem. Send us a set of plans and we'll get you a number.

Is Tru Tradesmen family owned?

Yes. Tru Tradesmen is owned and run by one family — Quincy, James, Jordan and Will — serving Summit and Wasatch counties. There's no private equity group, no regional call center, and no franchise agreement dictating how a job gets quoted. When you call, you're reaching the people whose name is on the truck.

Who actually shows up at my house?

A licensed tradesman with real time in the trade — never a salesman, never an apprentice sent out alone on a system he hasn't worked, and never a subcontractor you've never met. Whoever comes has read the history on your home before knocking, and you'll know his name before he does.

What if I lose heat outside business hours?

Call and leave a message. We return them as soon as a tradesman is free, and no-heat and freeze-risk calls go ahead of routine work on the schedule. What we won't do is advertise round-the-clock coverage we can't hold — you'll get an honest answer about when someone can be there instead of a promise that breaks at midnight. If it's something you can sort out from where you're standing, we'll walk you through it at no charge.

What actually happens during a boiler service visit?

Combustion analysis and tuning, heat exchanger inspection, ignition and flame sensing, circulator amp draw, expansion tank charge, zone valve operation, air elimination, glycol concentration if the system has it, pressure relief verification, and a written condition report with photos — it takes as long as it takes. If a tech is in and out in 20 minutes, you didn't get a service — you got a sticker.

Does altitude actually change how a furnace should be installed?

Yes, and it's the most common installation mistake we find up here. Gas appliances lose roughly 4% of their rated input per 1,000 feet of elevation. Up here at 5,500 to 7,000 feet, a furnace has to be derated by about a quarter to a third, which usually means a manufacturer's high-altitude kit and an orifice change. Equipment left at sea-level settings runs rich, soots the heat exchanger, and locks out on flame failure, often in its second or third winter. If you suspect yours was set up wrong, we'll tell you what we find.

Can you keep an eye on my house while I'm not in town?

Yes. We work with second-home owners and property managers across the Basin, Deer Valley, Hideout and Jordanelle. That covers low-temperature alarms and remote monitoring, scheduled mid-winter walkthroughs, winterizing and de-winterizing, and holding access codes so we can get in during a freeze event without waiting on a flight. You get photos after every visit so you can see the condition of the house from wherever you are.

Do you service propane systems in Kamas Valley and Coalville?

Yes. Natural gas service doesn't reach much of the Kamas Valley, Oakley, Peoa, or Wanship, so a large share of the homes we work on run propane. Propane requires different orifices and a different manifold pressure than natural gas, and it stacks with the altitude derate — both conversions have to be done together and verified with a combustion analyzer, which rides on every one of our trucks.

What if the repair doesn't hold?

We come back and make it right. A callback on the same issue goes to the front of the schedule rather than the back of the queue, and the tradesman who did the original work is the one who returns — so there's no argument about what was installed or why.

Will you push me to replace a system that still works?

No, and the reason is structural rather than a promise: there's no commission and no salesperson here. Our tradesmen earn the same on a small repair as on a full replacement, which is why "you don't need this yet" is a sentence you'll actually hear. When replacement is the right call, we'll show you the evidence — combustion readings, a cracked exchanger, an obsolete parts lookup — instead of a sales presentation.

Are you licensed and insured in Utah?

Yes. Tru Tradesmen is licensed and insured, carrying general liability and workers' compensation coverage.
